I just want to post a quick update. I've been getting a lot of full color pieces sent to me, and they are awesome, but I just want to remind everyone that the final pieces will be printed in grayscale in the book. If you do your piece in color, be sure to check and make sure that it reproduces well as a grayscale piece before sending it!

This guy is one of Batman’s enemies in the Japanese Manga version of Batman that came out during the 60’s. This drawing was a holiday gift for my buddy Daniel Krall, who gave me the incredible Bat-Manga!: The Secret History of Batman in Japan! Lord Death Man is the coolest!!

Here's a piece that I did recently for Ten Paces and Draw, which is a very cool little blog where illustrators do sketches based on a common theme, swap em, and then take the sketches that they get in return to final! Devilmans!!

So I spent the past couple of days drawing a bunch of Devilman characters for fun! Go Nagai is one of my favorite artists, and Devilman is pretty much my favorite thing ever. Seriously. I have a tattoo of him.

I'd been meaning to draw some Devilman stuff for a while, so I finally got around to it!

Devilman- Here's my version of the "manga" Devilman. There's a huge difference between this one and the one that was on tv.
TV Devilman- He’s like Devilman, only laaaame (but still pretty cool too)!!!
Welvath- She’s a girl who got stabbed in the titty with a broken bottle at a party, and then her eye popped out, and then her boobs grew mouths, and her arms split down the middle. Talk about a crummy day!

Also, this is the best drawing of a girl I’ve ever done.

Jinmen- He’s a big evil turtle with a bunch of faces of people he’s eaten stuck in his shell, and they cry all the time.
Silene- My favorite female villain! She's Devilman's old lover, and pissed that he's a good guy now! They SLUG. IT. OUT!!

Call for Artists!!!

Attention video game nerds/artists!!! I'm putting together a zine called Bits in Multiples of 8: An 8bit-64bit Video Game Fan Art Zine which, as you may have guessed, is a zine dedicated to the days when the power of a video game system was judged by how many bits it said it had, and how much excellence could be crammed on a single cartridge! The cover of the zine is going to be hand screenprinted, with grayscale interiors, and will be 5.5x8.5 inches, and will feature piles of pixel-fueled radness from a bunch of high-scoring artists!

What I'm looking for is: Original artwork (comics, illustrations, etc.) that is based off of any videogame or videogames that came out for any system between the life of The original Nintendo NES, and the Nintendo 64. This includes games for the Sega Genesis, Super Nintendo, Sony Playstation, Sega Master System, Sega Saturn, Ninendo Gameboy, Sega CD, etc. Basically any 8-bit, 16-bit, 32-bit, or 64-bit system. These pieces can be based on a single specific game or combination of games, your personal reactions/experiences with the games, characters from different games hanging out and partying, whatever you want so long as you have fun with it and make sure to capture the spirit of the originals while putting your own spin on it!

I won't be accepting: Art based on games that came out for systems that don't fit the theme (Xbox, Playstation 2, Sega Dreamcast, Gamecube, or later), drawings that are too focused on looking exactly like the style of art already created for the game, or exact redrawings of art created for the game or games you choose.

Everyone who submits is more than welcome to submit as much art as they like, but just a word of warning, there's a pretty good chance that everything submitted won't be able to make it into the zine. I hate to be exclusionary, but I will have to be in this case, but so long as you do something that I dig, it'll go in the book, no probelmo!

I am accepting both single page submissions (5.5x8.5 inches) and full spreads (8.5x11 inches). The deadline for submissions is February 28th, so anything sent between now and then will be considered! A Thanksgiving Feast!!!

I've got a bunch of pieces to post today! 4 to be exact!

First up is a poster for this weeks upcoming Thanksgiving themed MORE GORE #6 movie night at the Sidebar, presented, as always, by Cannibal Impalement Records. The movies being shown this time around are Poultrygeist and Thankskilling, with an intermission by Thee Lexington Arrows!!!

This is my favorite poster I've done for these guys, and probably one of my favorite posters I've done period.

Next up is my piece for Zac Gorman's forthcoming Final Fantasy 9 fan-art zine! I chose to draw Freya (one of my favorite characters) stabbing a Malboro (one of my favorite monsters) right in his ugly-ass face!!!

Aannnd finally, is a drawing of Death Race 2000's Frankenstein beating the tar out of Machine Gun Joe Viterbo (Sylvester Stallone). This was a drawing that I did for fun, for the same thing I did that drawing of Jason Voorhees for.

A piece for the Village Voice and a Spooooky Flyer!!!

Quick update! I did a piece for the Village Voice this week, and here it is! It was for an article titled "Rate My Professors Has Some Academics Up in Arms"

The article basically talks about how some professors think the website is a way for kids to throw "digital spitballs" at their teachers if they don't like them, and also for teachers who are easier graders to get better reviews and more enrollment in their classes, while teachers who grade harder feel pressured to either raise the average grade, or face less students in their classes. A poster and a comic!

Here's a couple of things that I worked on this week! First up is another collaboration between Alex Fine and me for Cannibal Impalement Records' monthly More Gore event at the Sidebar here in Baltimore. This time around they're doing a double feature for the movies Hatchet 1 & 2.

Alex Drew the right side of the face and the Gator heads, and I drew the left, the hatchets, and did the text as well. These are being turned into a limited run of 30 screen prints that are going to be sold at the show/online. If you're in the Baltimore area Wednesday, come check it out!

Also this week, I drew a comic for Benn Ray of Atomic Books' Said What? comic strip that's printed each week in Baltimore's B Magazine. Here's what I did!

Lo Pan, Frog People, and Zombies!!!

I've got a heapin' helpin' of new (and not so new) work to post, suckers!!! I've had some of this work for a long time now, but had to wait to post it, and then forgot to post it once I could (doh!). But first things first, I just finished up another movie shirt for my pals over at Dysphoria! This time around is the always excellent Big Trouble in Little China!

Next up is a collaboration between the talented Alex Fine and myself. It's another movie poster for Cannibal Impalement Records' More Gore! movie night at the Sidebar here in Baltimore.
They were printed as a limited run of 15 for the event, and they look awesome printed!!!! Alex drew Ami and Guitar Wolf and did the lettering at the top, as well as the coloring, and I drew all the crazy shit at the bottom!!! Lock and Loll!!!!

Finally, here's a wallpaper that I recently did, and totally forgot to post when I should have, for The Fox is Black's Desktop Wallpaper Project for the band Animal Collective.

A bunch of Baltimore illustrators were assigned a different Animal Collective album, and were asked to create a wallpaper based on it. While I'm admittedly not not too knowledgeable of Animal Collective's work, I had a really great time doing this wallpaper! I was assigned the album Danse Manatee, and based my wallpaper mostly off of the song Meet the Light Child, although everything on that album influenced what I decided to do. Businessweek and Nancy!!!

I recently did an illustration for Businessweek! Crazy, right? Completely unexpected, right? I'm super psyched that I got to do work for them! I was assigned to do a spot illustration to accompany an article on the book The Psychopath Test: A Journey Through the Madness Industry. As it turns out, blood-thirsty CEO types have a lot more in common with blood-thirsty Psychopath types! Who'da thought? Anyway, they printed the test in this weeks issue, and my illustration was printed on the test itself! Here it is!They were a blast to do this piece for, and the art director was super cool to work with!

I also did one of my first comics in a while this past week as well! New York artist Josh Bayer recently asked me and a bunch of super rad artists to contribute to an anthology that he's putting together. The basic idea is that he sends us a pile of panels from various Nancy comic strips, we pick two of them, one to put as the first panel of the comic, and one to put as the last panel of the comic, and then we fill in the story in between! It's an awesome idea, and was a load of fun to do! Here's what I did! I have more work on the way that I'll be posting here soon, so check back later!

The Blob/Terror Vision Movie Night Poster!

Heyo, short post today! I got this wrapped up the other day, but wanted to wait until it was approved before I threw it up here. I did a poster for the upcoming More Gore! movie night at the Sidebar here in Baltimore, which is organized by Cannibal Impalement Records. The two movies this time around are The Blob (1988) and Terror Vision (1986), which are both KILLER flicks about gross space monsters coming down and wrecking peoples shit!

These guys are going to be screen printed by Dysphoria Distro, who are the same folks that have been printing up the shirts that I've been doing lately, and will be printing up the shirts I'll be posting on here soon! Check back soon for those!

This post is for all the Magic: The Gathering nerds out there! I recently did these three guys for a buddy of mine who works at a store that sells Magic: the Gathering cards. The new MTG set came out a week or so ago, and he wanted me to design Germ tokens to go along with the release of the set that they could have printed up and sold in the store. To be honest, I'm more of an old school MTG nerd myself (I stopped playing for a while there after the set "Planechase" came out), so I'm not exactly familiar with what Germs really do, but they were way fun to draw nonetheless!

BLOOD, GUTS, and SLIME!

I'm back with a very slimy, drippy update to the blog on this fine weekend!

First things first is the image that I posted a preview to a handful of entries back. The anthology came out recently, so I can officially post this guy now! I had a lot of fun doing this piece, seeing as how I was able to cram all kinds of crazy crap into it.

And speaking of cramming all kinds of crazy crap into my work, I've finished up the cd art for Oh Shit They're Going to Kill Us' "Complete Shit" album! I've posted the cover, which I finished a little while ago, on my website before, but now you can check out the front and the interior together!

Big Ol' Update

Hey doods and girl-doods. I have a load of stuff to put up here! I've been super busy lately with illustration work, and I'm here to post a bunch of the stuff I've been doing!

To start things off, I just wrapped up a cd package design project with the dudes in the band Enabler from Milwaukee! The new cd is called "Year One", and it's their first full length as well as their 7" ep "War Begins With You" (which I also did the art for) on one album for the first time! As always, I had a fucking blast doing these guys' art. This time around they wanted a sort of mash-up of their first two album covers in one cover, so that's what I gave em! I re-did the original cover of the 1st album, but handled it like I did with the cover art for "War Begins With You".

I also did a shirt design to go along with the release of the album. The image also appears as part of the packaging of the CD itself.

By the way, if you haven't check these guys out yet, you definitely should! HEAVY AS FUCK!

I've also been signed on as a regular artist for the website MADatoms, where I've been doing some more editorial-ish work than I've done in the past. Here's what I've done for them so far!

Here's a new album cover I completed recently for Czech gore-grinders Gutalax! They were a blast to do work for, and this assignment was nuts! I got to do all the layout work and interior illustrations as well, and everything thing was shit themed! How can you go wrong there?

I've currently got a load (pun intended?) more band work on the table that I'll be posting as soon as it's done, so keep your eyes peeled! I've also got some *gasp* EDITORIAL work coming!?!?

Jason Voorhees

Here's a little drawing that I did recently for fun. Me and my friend/fellow volleyball gang member Greg Houston have decided to each, about once a month or so, do a reinterpretation of a favorite movie maniac/monster. We decided to start things of simple with a black and white drawing of Jason Voorhees.

I decided to do bag-head Jason from part 2. He's always struck me as being way creepier and effective as a crazed, deformed giant living in the woods alone, hanging out with his mom's severed head, than as an undead Terminator just out to kill teenagers (not that I don't love that version too!)

We're going to be doing this from now on, and will be inviting other artists to take part in it as well as time goes on. We plan on starting a blog of the drawings too! Keep your eyes peeled for updates!

Not a huge post this time around... Just a couple of cool drawings I did recently. Both of these were drawn to be used for fliers for shows up in Philly, and were kind of done off the cuff and quick. I've been practicing my black and white inking recently, and have been trying really hard to get nice and loose with it, and I think I'm heading in the right direction. Both were done pretty quickly and with very minimal under-pencils.

In other news, I have a preview for a piece that I'm not able to show yet. I was interviewed by the cool dudes over at The Strange Kids Club not that long ago, and was recently asked to contribute a piece to their upcoming anthology that they're working on. IMMORTAL DEMON PALM ULTIMATE TECHNIQUE

So, I've finally decided to post these guys! I've been sitting on these illustrations for a little while now, and now that my blog is back up and running, I think it's time I show these guys the light of day. I'm getting ready to start a HUGE comic project, and having been doing a lot of character designs for it to get ready. The comic is going to be called "Immortal Demon Palm Ultimate Technique", and the story's going to basically be a combination of an epic revenge story, Mad Max movies, Fist of the North Star, old school beat-em-up videogames, and those crazy amputee kung-fu films that came out in the 70's. Basically, everything I love all rolled up into one. I'm not going to give too much away as of right now, but I'll have more to post about it in the future. So here's some of the main guys:
